FAQs
Newbies often ask the following:-
Someone on a forum says that backlinking software is bad or can 'get you banned'?
Nonsense. If you manually added 10 backlinks to your site every day, would you expect to get banned for that? So how on earth could a search engine tell whether you submitted the link by hand or by software? Or even using a combination??? 'Bans' (or 'sandboxing') only happens when your site has a MASSIVE influx of new links AND there's no reason for it (such as a viral video or suchlike). People who say things like this on forums are usually trying to sell you their own 'link building services', and they HATE free plugins such as this (despite the fact that they mostly use our plugin and try and charge YOU for it!)
Can't linking to 'bad neighborhoods' get you banned?
Yes, but notice that word 'to'. You aren't linking TO anything. You're getting links FROM sites. There is a long established Google rule that you can NEVER hurt your site due to an incoming link. The reason for this is obvious - you have no absolute control over incoming links, and it would for example be too easy for a competitor to ruin your day by linking you up to 'bad neighborhoods' without your knowledge or consent. If you create links OUT from your site to other sites, YOU are responsible for that, of course, and the Google guidelines are quite clear - don't make links out from your site to spam sites.
Isn't the 'fast' setting better?.
The plugin defaults to 'normal' setting because this is the setting that's guaranteed not to raise any flags at the search engines. If you add too many links too fast, what generally happens is that your site gets flagged for a human visit, and the one thing you never want is human visits from search engines, whether you have anything to hide or not. Just like you never want to be visited by the taxman, whether or not you have anything to hide! The fast setting is very unlikely to raise a flag, of course, but we'd still recommend the normal setting.
Is this some sort of 3 way linking or linkwheel?
No. The links are one way, from the directories etc TO you. You don't need to reciprocate. Which means there's no 'footprint'. You'd normally have to pay big bucks for this, especially 'drip fed' over time!
Can I add my own backlinks as well?
Of course! Just don't add too many every day!
How can I hide the attribution link at the bottom of the page?
The bottom option on the options screen hides or shows the attribution link. The plugin is free for personal use, but if you want to use it professionally, we'd expect you to join our Graduate program. Graduates don't have to worry about attribution links. |
